Join us on November 23, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. EST via Zoom, for a two-hour participative talk and workshop with Dr. Art Babayants (Bishop's University, QC) covering his experience of the hiring process in the Canadian university circuit. This is the first of a series of participative talks and workshops in the form of testimonials from researchers-artists and teachers from across Canada, highlighting life and the academic world, and designed as participatory talks with practical workshops. We invite you to convene again in the spring of 2022 with our mystery guests, for a sharing of experiences on the theme of Life, parenthood, and the academic world.

Discussion-workshop (2hrs) facilitated in English and French, and with spontaneous translation via chat*

  • (20-30 min) Mentored meet & greet with participants, and sharing of expectations, goals, and the challenges involved in the hiring processes within the Canadian university circuit
  • (30 min) The paradox of academic interview: two contrasting stories
  • (40 min) Interview practice in small groups 
  • (15 min) Q&A

This initiative is the newest of the three-strand mentoring program at CATR, as part of its vision fostering a culture of mutuality and well-being – mentorship pairing | mentorship initiative synchronic to the conference | sharing of life & academic experiences – initiated and facilitated by Dr. Christine (cricri) Bellerose, coordinator of the mentoring program at CATR, as part of the e-events off-conference series, supported by CATR.
